Two types of logical reasoning can be distinguished as well as formal deduction: deductive and inductive reasoning. In the former, the case involves the discovery of some fact or information which supports a conclusion; while in the latter, the situation is the opposite. In the former case, the starting point is more reliable than the conclusion. The problem is solved by inductive arguments. The main reason behind this is that a single fact has more weightage than a collection of facts.

It is advisable to practice logical reasoning tests as many times as possible. This will help you become familiar with the types and develop your logical reasoning skills. In this section, the student has to analyze a statement such as “Tom is a lumberjack who lives in New York.” Tom is a lumberjack who lives in New York because that is where he is located. So, what is the relationship between Tom and the other person, namely, New York?

Tom has demonstrated a strong control over objects. He has used this skill in the previous part of the test and got a good result. However, in this section he has to demonstrate again that he is able to use an object properly without getting confused with the meaning of its name. The examples are: “The bus is blue. The bus is green. Therefore, the bus is blue neither.”

The statement it follows an explanation about how Tom was able to use the object correctly. The word ‘explanation’ here refers to the idea that there are various explanations for the usage of an object. It is a conclusion that follows from the idea that there are no principles or laws that can be applied to the situation just described. Again, there is no valid explanation for the fact that the fitness walking is explained as “fit and healthy” in this context.

The last two examples do not contain any conclusion about the use of ‘probability’ in logical reasoning. Probability is used so much in everyday life that many people do not realize that it is not a very efficient way to express ideas. Tom used the word probability twice in the same paragraph and therefore, we can guess that he may have been struggling with the meaning of his own word. Fortunately, many of the other students got a good grade because they understood the full implications of the statement “ii.”
