The primary benefit of this type of database system is the ease of maintenance and its flexibility, since a new feature can be added at any time. The main drawback is that it can be expensive because of the complex data structures and the time consumed in updating them. If the number of users accessing the database increases over time, the cost of maintaining the information will become greater.

Again, as we can see, the key benefits of DML (data warehouse management systems) have been around for a long time already and they are far from becoming obsolete. DML is not dead though. Some industry experts feel that it will eventually replace traditional database management systems, but for now, these experts are quite high on the efficiency it offers and agree that no major disadvantages appear to be involved. This means that you should seriously consider a switch to a good DML solution sooner rather than later, especially if you operate a large and critical enterprise where the security, reliability, and performance of your data is extremely important.
