In my position as an LL.M candidate in Public Administration, I am often asked by candidates whether they think they need to take the L SW examination prior to submitting their application to the University of London (LU). Some say that they are confident that they will pass and so don’t bother applying; others feel that their odds of success are best with them doing the exam on their own. There is a third group who feel very strongly that they will not pass the exam if they don’t attempt the L SW exam at all. Is there a correct answer to the question? Can I take the L SW examination by myself?

The truth of the matter is that the answer is ‘no’, you cannot take the test by yourself without preparing thoroughly. You must learn about every topic, including management theory and the statistical method used in the assessment of a candidate’s ability to learn. You need to have at least some idea of how to analyze data in order to find trends and correlations – and the statistical tests run on these topics are not easy! No matter what kind of testing a candidate takes, it is not a walk in the park. A weakly prepared examinee will have trouble with some of the harder questions. If you don’t fully understand the question, you may be giving false answers which may give the examiner great reason to reject you.

If you prepare for the LSW exam by yourself, then you might be able to get away with taking the exam less prepared than those who pay someone to do university examination at their expense. However, you should still follow the same procedures that apply to preparing for exams taken in your particular area of study. Have a plan of action. Know the types of questions that will be asked. Know the types of answers that you want to give and when you will deliver them.

Don’t procrastinate when it comes to studying for LSWs. If there are exams taking place within six months of each other, it’s better to start studying now than later. In fact, the earlier you start, the better your chances of doing well on the exams. If you’re really committed to your studies, you’ll likely find it much easier to cram for the exams when you’re ahead of time and not when they’re taking place more than a year later.

When can I take my LSW exam? The LSW examination schedule is usually published around two months prior to the exams. This gives students enough time to study and prepare for the test. The exam schedule isn’t set in stone, but the earlier you start your preparations, the better off you’ll be.

Once you’ve made the decision to go ahead and take the test, you need to prepare for it. If you’re preparing for entrance exams at college, make sure that you’ve done your preparation so that your college career can be helped by the test results. Talk with professors and your instructors to make sure that you’re ready for your LSW. Write down questions you don’t understand and make sure that you’ve gone through the basic concepts described to make sure you understand them. You should also spend a good deal of time practicing in front of a mirror or in class.

What if I have to repeat an entire class? Your LSW results will come out after the course is completed. You’ll likely get a copy of your results as well as the grading rubrics. Make sure that you read over your scores and make sure you understand what you’re achieving. Your school may offer a review course that you can take.

When can I take my LSW exam? It depends on the college in which you’re applying. Some colleges require that you’ve been in the program for several semesters while others don’t. Contact the admissions office at the college of your choice to find out their specific requirements.
